About Hygge Hill House
Our story
Ever since we moved to Rochester in 2000, we have been looking for the perfect place. For Bob, that means quiet – no street noise, boat noise, loud neighbors. For Susan, it means being able to sit on the porch in the morning and sip coffee, while looking over a beautiful vista. In Hygge Hill House, we finally found both. Hygge Hill House represents a coming home to Bob, who grew up in the Finger Lakes. To Susan, who grew up in Chicago and considers herself a city gal, it is a place for unwinding, after the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
What’s in a name?
“Hygge” is a Danish word that describes a feeling of comfort, coziness and conviviality. It is about spending time with friends and family. It is the idea of simple pleasures – like sitting down with a good book, sipping a warm drink, or having a heart-to-heart talk with a loved one. We hope you can spend some restorative hygge time in our home.
